75 yard Swim/ 1 mile Bike / .5 mile Run

Who:  Kids age 7-12 are invited to participate in this fun off-road triathlon.

What:  This race, like a real adult triathlon,  is a swim, bike and a run.  The distances are short enough so you can finish the race, but long enough to be a challenge.

Swim:  Swim 75 yards out and back in deepish water!  We know some of you might not be able to swim that distance yet without a little help, so feel free to wear a life jacket or water wings or WHATEVER.  You can also bring a parent along in the water if you want to.

Bike:  Bike 1 mile on grass and gravel.  This is a bumpy, unpaved course and has some little hills - just like the adult triathletes will have at their race.  You’ll be able to get through the bike course on just about any type of bike.  Make sure your tires are pumped up and your chain is lubed up!   The bike course is ½ mile - and you’ll ride it twice.

Run:  The Run course is the same as the bike course - and you’ll do one lap of it which is ½ mile.  At the end, you’ll cross the finish line and get a ribbon, a t-shirt, and pizza!

Where:   The Race is at the Lake Sawyer Open Space in Black Diamond.  Find directions HERE.  It happens with another race at the park that day, XTERRA Black Diamond .  The XTERRA is an off-road triathlon for adults who come from all over the country to participate.  We’ll have professional triathletes as well as amateur and age-group competitors from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, etc.  The adult race will be fun to watch while you’re at the park.

When:  The race starts at about 9:45, after all the adult triathletes of XTERRA Black Diamond exit the water.
